Many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls – but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill – or be devoured! Man...do you remember, your season 1 encodes were like 2/2.5 gb episodes each. I still have them on HDD
I have not yet checked out a CBM x265 release, but it seems like many encoders still haven't mastered using this newer compression method. I'm seeing a distinct reduction in quality in many cases, especially in faster moving or darker scenes. Perhaps their intention was not to make an "archive" quality version, so I could be starting on a false premise. But from what I have witnessed, for archives x264 still trumps x265. CBM is a more experienced encoder, so my statement may not be true in all instances. I wish it were easier to determine who are the "archive" encoders vs "speed" encoders. Either way, Thank you CBM. I'll download your first episode and compare it to the MK-SCY release. That is a 20GB variance, which is massive.
Jdx64, thanks for the information. I'll be the first to admit that I am still "old school", and it is difficult for me to move away from the larger file size=better. I know that compression methods are always evolving, and x265 is definitely superior. But as you mention, it is superior under the correct circumstances with an encoder who has learned its nuances. But I am also aware of the "bloat" traps. I remember downloading these massive Coalgirls files, which were very well done, but other encoders would be almost as solid at half the file size. CBM is an experienced encoder, so I look forward to seeing how this turned out. With storage space becoming so cheap, I do try to find the best version, even if it is larger. I usually go out and buy the blu ray, so if I ever need the "perfect" article, I always have it. But it is soooo much easier to just fire up a Plex library.
@cornbreadman Why does the english audio(DD+) have a cutoff of frequency 20,000 Hz ? Please do a patch to correct it. Your Attack on Titan Season 1 all had 24,000 cutoff frequencies.

@cornbreadman Yes 20,000 Hz is the default cutoff for AC3 but your season 1 had the full frequencies.
So you don't have plans for an optional patch which replaces the audios for both x264 and x265?
Allthough I am very grateful for AoT, could you please share any updates regarding "Death Parade" Please?

> So you don’t have plans for an optional patch which replaces the audios for both x264 and x265? If you're referring to AoT s2? then no. Season 1 will be updated with the corrected audio and new video as well as a HEVC version sometime later on. > Allthough I am very grateful for AoT, could you please share any updates regarding “Death Parade” That's currently being worked on.
Man...your Season 1 encode of AoT was flawless. Best encode on the web possibly. I don't know if you left any scope of improvement over it. Don't know why there is any need of encoding it except for some HEVC demand... For Death Parade; thank you for keeping us in the loop.

> Let it come now… There was a issue with the software I use, which is why I didn't release it on the 1st. I will release it on the 8th. (If you have a show request, I'll take it for the delay I caused.)
Oh will be waiting for it on 8th. If you could find time do One Punch Man...that'd be great. Have heard a lot about this one...
