This is the 2nd season of Bakemonogatari (with the notorious tooth-brushing scene).

Subs: Coalgirls/Commie/Tap24

I couldn’t find a BD 1080p release of this with typeset non-ordered-chapter subs, so I made one from the various 720p/ordered chapter/etc versions.
Many typesetting passes later, there’s still a lot of imperfections, but with 1000+ signs in just 11 episodes that’s always gonna happen.

Thank you! Definitely seems to be an archival release worthy of replacing CGi’s with the improved TS at first glance. I did have two questions though;

  1. Since you skipped the first season, did you find a decent release to replace coalgirls’ bakemonogatari?
  2. Do you have any plans on doing the complete series (or at least up to what CGi released) to do a full typesetting pass and remove the ordered chaptering in their release?

Finding a complete archival worthy definitive version of the full series is a bit tricky. :( This is what I’ve gathered thus far in my search over the years.

Edit: Noticed some minor TS errors that went unnoticed. Such as the “physics” book title in episode 1 at 07:41 stretching past the book. Though since the errors are present in both releases, yours is certainly still better due to the overall various improvements!

The ANE version of the first season seems to me to be the best, and I’m going to stick with the UTW-Mazui version of Neko. Other than that I mostly kept the Commie versions so no great insight here I’m afraid. I like to re-encode stuff to fit on Plex without transcoding so ordered chapters (Coalgirls) are never ok.

I did say up above there are still a lot of imperfections in the TS. There’s only so much time in the universe but I did what I could.

That’s okay, the TS changes you did improve on definitely seem better than what was left as-is in CGi. Personally I like the dialogue and translation changes in coalgirls a bit more than commie, but hopefully someone can take the entire series when it is truly finished and give it some proper tlc.

UTW-Mazui version of Neko is only 720p and not BD. Coalgirls did use UTW-Mazui as the primary subs script with some corrections and fixes from outside sources in their BD release.
