Ladies and Gentlemen, I created this torrent as a “starter pack” of sorts for those who are interested in 1980s (1980-1989) anime and don’t yet know WHERE to start at, LOL! I’m going to create MORE packs like THIS until I’m finished covering 1980s anime (at least the Movies and OVAs)…
This torrent compilation containing Anime MOVIES from the 1980s has the following TEN films in 1080p BluRay Resolution:
Plot Synopsis:
Toward The Terra (1980) - “Jomy Mark Shin is a seemingly ordinary boy on Earth, but fate has shown him something different. The authorities learn that he is a Mu, a member of race of psionic humans that are marked for death by the Central computer called Mother Eliza. He is rescued by a rebel group of Mu’s lead by Soldier Blue, who shows him that he is of artificial birth in a space colony. Now, Jomy must be the successor to Soldier Blue and fight for the survival of his people and the right to return to Earth. However, the human forces lead by the elite officer, Keith Anyan, are a formidable and deadly threat.”
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) - “An animated fantasy-adventure. Set one thousand years from now, the Earth is ravaged by pollution and war. In the Valley of the Wind lives Nausicaä, Princess of her people. Their land borders on a toxic jungle, filled with dangerous over-sized insects. Meanwhile, two nearby nations are bitterly engaged in a war and the Valley of the Wind is stuck in the middle.”
The Super Dimension Fortress Macross - Do You Remember Love (1984) - “A.D. 2009. The human race is in the middle of a three-way war with a race of giant humanoid aliens called the Zentraedi (male) and Meltrandi (female). After executing a space fold that sent it and part of South Atalia Island to the edge of the Solar System, the space fortress Macross is on its way back to Earth. During a small skirmish with Zentraedi forces, young pilot Hikaru Ichijo rescues idol singer Lynn Minmay and their relationship develops as they’re stranded somewhere within the ship. But shortly after returning to Macross City, Minmay is captured by the Zentraedi, and Hikaru and female officer Misa Hayase end up back on Earth—only to view the aftermath of the destruction of their civilization. Only a song discovered eons ago—along with Minmay’s voice—can determine the outcome of the war.”
Vampire Hunter D (1985) - "The story revolves around D, the infamous “dunpeal” (born of a vampire father and a human mother) outcast and renowned vampire hunter. His prowess at hunting the creatures of the night allowing his acceptance among humans, he is called upon to locate Charlotte Elbourne, the lovely daughter of an affluent family who has been mysteriously kidnapped.
When the sun sets, the hunt goes on! Charlotte’s father offers a rich bounty, be she dead or alive, a task D willingly accepts, even with notorious Markus brothers and their gang of bounty hunters seeking the prize as well. Amidst the chase and unknown to all lurks, a sinister evil which has been secretly manipulating their every move and has set a chilling trap that none will expect and few will survive. With the tables turned and the secrets revealed, the hunters could quickly become the hunted!"
Fist of the North Star (1986) - “After a nuclear holocaust tears the world apart, mankind is forced to the harshness of not only the oppression of others who are much more powerful, but the dead earth which seems to be getting worse with every passing moment. But a savior has risen from the ashes, a man who will defeat those who would torment the weak and make the world a livable place once more. A man named Kenshiro…”
Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986) - “A young boy stumbles into a mysterious girl who floats down from the sky. The girl, Sheeta, was chased by pirates, army and government secret agents. In saving her life, they begin a high flying adventure that goes through all sorts of flying machines, eventually searching for Sheeta’s identity in a floating castle of a lost civilization.”
Wicked City (1987) - “There is Earth, our familiar world, and then there is the Black World, a parallel dimension that very few people are aware of. For centuries, a pact between the two worlds has been observed to maintain peace, and terms must be negotiated and renewed soon to continue relative harmony. This time around, there is a militant faction that will stop at nothing to prevent the signing of a new treaty for inter-dimensional peace. Two agents of the elite organization known as the Black guards—defenders of the balance between the two worlds—are charged with ensuring the success of the treaty.”
Grave of the Fireflies (1988) - “The story of Seita and Setsuko, two young Japanese siblings, living in the declining days of World War II. When an American firebombing separates the two children from their parents, the two siblings must rely completely on one another while they struggle to fight for their survival.”
Akira: 30th Anniversary Edition (1988) - “2019. 31 years after being destroyed during World War 3, Tokyo (now ‘Neo-Tokyo’) has been rebuilt and is a thriving metropolis. Shotaro Kaneda is the leader of a biker gang. His friend Tetsuo is injured in an accident and taken to a top-secret government facility. He develops telekinetic powers but decides to use them for evil rather than good. He has the same powers as Akira, the force that destroyed Tokyo in 1988, and now it appears that history will repeat itself.”
Demon City Shinjuku (1988) - “Kyoya’s father was a great warrior, killed at the hands of the diabolical psychic, Rebi Ra, who has now opened a portal to hell in the city of Shinjuku. It falls to Kyoya to finish what his father started and battle his way through demons, while protecting a young woman from harm. The only problem is that he’s not exactly your classic hero type, and his powers are still latent.”

I was first introduced to anime in grad school, during the US 1987/1988 academic year; there was an on-campus anime screening society.
I recognize a lot of the names here…although some were released later in the year, after I’d graduated and moved away.

Terra e…, Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä, Macross: Do You Remember Love? (really need to see series over the movie, at least wut I stink), Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the North Star (again series over movie), Wicked City (one of my favorites), Grave of the Fireflies, Akira, Demon City Shinjuku (absolutely favorite Animu movie from the 80’s). Are ALL amazingly good movies. Highly recommend.
Danke schön for these.

LOL, THANKS for the excitement, mate!
@ Weasalopes
How I WISH that I would’ve had an anime “club” of sorts during my younger years at school :(, LOL!
DOWNLOAD Away, my friend!
@ NodMan
In regards to that Macross film, I feel the same way that you do. I hear that the movie is a “summarization” of sorts (with a few new scenes and elements) of the original series that it was based on.
Yes, I loved the FOTNS -series- OVER the movie as well!!!
Between Wicked City and Demon City Shinjuku, WHICH of the two is YOUR favorite though? Mine’s is Wicked City, hands down :D!
Download away and be sure to SEED, mate(s)!

Why not include your name in every release? That way it will be much easier to find you here on Nyaa.
Unless there is a way and I’m missing something.
SomaHeir
This is the good stuff :)

@ ab8895
Maybe one day I’ll include my name in all of my releases, LOL! In the meantime, just BOOKMARK my profile page here in your browser and check periodically, okay?
;)
@ SomaHeir
THANKS for always supporting me, mate!
KlooKloo
I would have put Patlabor, Robot Carnival, Cobra, Venus Wars, Wings of Honneamise, Urusei Yatsura 2, and/or Angel’s Egg in here instead of 3 Ghibli movies and Demon City AND Wicked City. As much as I love ALL these movies for a “anime novice primer” it could be more expansive

@ KlooKloo
And that’s why I’m probably going to have AT LEAST like 5, 6, or 7 PACKS of “80s Anime Movies” so I can eventually cover the ENTIRE spectrum (including those you just listed)…Also, I wanted to start this 1st pack out with some of the more Popular movies during that time just to get the “novices” going…
Each pack will have 10 Movies}OVAs or so until I’m finished covering the 80s and then it’s on to the '90s anime (which will probably be like TWENTY-THIRTY packs, LOL, due to how much anime was being released back then)!
;)

Cool idea. Seems like a good way to provide easy access to some classics.

@animepacks007 Thanks for Vampire Hunter D. I needed that Who did the subtitles for Fist of North Star and Macross Movie?
animepacks007 (uploader)
@ Chrno
Thanks for enjoying Vampire Hunter D, mate!
The subtitles from the FOTNS movie were from the BluRay and the ones from that Macross movie came from the release group where I originally downloaded the files from.
;)

well Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind is one of the handful of anime i actually gave a 10 out of 10 to, but i only have a peasant level DVDrip so here i am (plus i don’t remember it based on name alone, so rewatch time i guess)
PS. Grave of the Fireflies is something i would avoid watching again, but would recommend that everyone watches it.
