#### **QaS - Quality and Size** This is a 10-bit HEVC / x265 re-encode of [AOmundson's][aomundson release] 169.2 gb release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. [Cerberus released][cerberus release] a similar x265 re-encode of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann from the same source as far as i know but this one has Opus 5.1 and a lot more video quality according to some quality metrics (details on technical section) at the same file size. No filter applied. This way of life has persisted for hundreds of years, and yet, the people are still powerless against the earthquakes and cave-ins which occasionally devastate their villages. Jeeha is one such village... One day, while digging tunnels to expand Jeeha's edges, a boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill. Meanwhile, Kamina — Simon's soon-to-be "bro" — insists that there is another land above the village and tries to break through the ceiling in order to leave the cavern. He fails; however, an earthquake suddenly occurs, the ceiling collapses, and a gigantic robot — a "Ganmen" — crashes to the cave floor! Kamina is now certain that there is a world above their tiny pit-village. Encouraged, he begins to fight recklessly against the robot, until he encounters another person who has arrived from the land above. She is a beautiful girl by the name of Youko, who has come from a neighboring village with a rifle in hand. She has been hunting the robot, but her shots only seem to irritate it. Desperately trying to escape its attacks, Simon brings Kamina and Youko to what he had previously found: a mysterious robot with a head for a body. And so begins the "epic" adventure... I copy-pasted it. I encoded the default english surround audio track with Opus 256-Kb/s because the recommended bitrate for surround is 256-Kb/s according to [wiki][opus wiki], i encoded the japanese stereo audio track with Opus 128-Kb/s because it says opus at 128-Kb/s for stereo is nearly indistinguishable from the uncompressed source on [wiki][opus wiki]. In case you are asking why i am using opus: [Opus Comparison][opus compare] **Video**: I measured three video quality metrics: [PSNR][psnr link], [SSIM][ssim link] and the newest one [VMAF][vmaf link]. PSNR is the oldest one and i think it has the lowest importance because it's a signal to noise ratio and it has nothing to do with human perception of quality. VMAF i think is the most important one because it's developed with human perception of quality in mind. I don't want to go into details on these. Let's talk about my video metrics. I measured these quality metrics on first episodes only, [Cerberus'][cerberus release] video and mine given the reference video [AOmundson's][aomundson release].
