| __Sources__ | | |---|---| | Video | HiFi | | Audio Track 1 | [[BLOAT]][1] (Japanese 5.1 FLAC 16-bit) | | Audio Track 2 | [[Dogway]][2] (English 5.1 AC-3 448kb/s) | | Subtitle Track 1 | English [[Dogway]][2] (jpn) | | Subtitle Track 2 | Signs [[Dogway]][2] (eng) | --- **Notes:** Here are Hifi's original notes for their release: ``` Source: Perfect.Blue.1997.GBR.BluRay.Remux.1080p.AVC.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-BMF + Perfect.Blue.1997.JPN.BluRay.Remux.1080p.AVC.TrueHD.5.1-decibeL Note: Left, right and top margin all have issues on GBR. FillMargins + BalanceBorders did a bad job at masking it. JPN source has similar issues on left/right but not as severe, furthermore, the top 8px of GBR has severe blurring resulting from an older x264 bug (GBR Blu-ray was x264 encoded) JPN was used as overlay for all three margins, see script below. Source does not compress very well but with the fixes made I think it overall looks better than any of the two sources used. Many thanks to saturn and hyvh for Avisynth help! ``` Dogway's subs are based on THORA (not 100% sure). There aren't any better English audio sources as well. i seriously doubt that's even close to the best encode since there was a 4k remaster BD release about two years ago

@herkz not like I'd be able to tell anyways btw are you still planning on subbing tenki no ko in the near future?
if the translator ever works on it

@herkz guess that means it's time for me to fix Hikikomori typesetting and use kaizoku tl :_)
I'd just wait, that movie isn't good enough in the first place to warrant work that'll be easily trumpable

I'm on the fence about it as I have a weathering with you release ready to but on nyaa but I'd like there to be some sort of sign ts, I'll give it another look and think about it
here's a comparison I've found, to my eyes the 2013 BD looks better. https://slow.pics/c/daXaiGbi edit: and here is my comparison of Dogway and HiFi https://slow.pics/c/pIQMJPm6
dogway is better, also the new BD doesn't seem that great but probably preferable for people who dislike grain.
i disagree on both points, dogway is color corrected, but it seems to have changed all the wrong things ([https://slow.pics/c/66b9lucq](https://slow.pics/c/66b9lucq), mostly the red), and it's denoised, which seems to be a popular choice, but i prefer it left intact. new BD has horrendous lineart and i think a denoised encode of the old BD would still look better even if you don't like the noise
I mean yes, in this specific instance the red is a little bit too bright, but is still a massive improvement over everything else. I'll take it over a whitened curtain on the entire video.
Isn't bxyh release the best out there?
Thanks, i was looking to see this movie again. After looking at some screencap, the 2013 version seems to be the more detailed
Have you taken a look at Yurei's encode? It's pretty great. https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1291499
