fuck unculture weebs I prefer unlocalized track
Thanks. Much appreciated! In my humble opinion, the localized version is much better. I was even thinking of suggesting it before I knew this version was coming. We can hear the Japanese name fine already there is no point in writing it as it is every single time while the English name is just written once as a translation note. Pretty sure once we get many more techniques it will become even more confusing with the unlocalized names. Also, most of them are just simple words like Kuchiyose=Summoning. It just feels weird leaving them out and gives the feeling of unfinished translation
Untranslating stuff is the new anime trend. I'll gladly take actual translated techniques so I can understand what the fuck they are doing. It's kinda embarrassing that this is even a discussion to begin with. What is the point of having romanji in the subs? You can hear the word in the japanese dub anyway.

> Is the new anime trend No, it's a "trend" from mid 2000. Also, it's because these (unlocalized ones) techniques names are in line with the manga, 2001 anime and pretty much how everyone in the fandom calls them. Localized track is made following english official translation or mine, it's not that i'm lazy and didn't bother translating, and keep in mind that old time fans know them by their original name. Also some puns and jokes had to be modified in the localized track, while in the unlocalized one it's much easier to understand them.
At 9:45... I'm sure you know what you're doing, but you had Yoh say "I won't give IT to you." But his voice clearly says Amidamaru and I can't imagine Yoh would ever call a spirit "it". It feels like it goes against his character.
> I can’t imagine Yoh would ever call a spirit “it”. Aw, shit. Noted. This episode has fucked enough with me already, that’ll be for the fixed for the batch.

@mujie123 yeah, even wrote that in TLN for editor and TLC, Yoh always refers at spirits as person meanwhile Jun as objects, but later in the episode as person too I don't know who's fault it is but for some various problems this episode was really a nightmare. Forgive us for an "it" haahahahhahaha Noted though
Thank you very much
The point of having romaji in the translation is keeping the honorifics (which are important to how each character interacts with one another), keeping the original names without the horrible English translations, and keeping the techniques as-is because that's how you hear and know them. Over-localization is the main reason fansubs even exist.

I wouldn't call them "horrible English translations" as they are also my translations XD They're just preferences, and that's why there are two tracks.
@Setsugennoao: It's all good. It happens, and you guys are working really hard for the fans to enjoy the new Shaman King :) Thanks

I watched the OG Shaman King with English dubs so reading the non translated techniques for me was kinda odd. That's why I prefer the localized subtitles. But will continue watching your releases either way. Thanks for your hard work.
It makes sense to put honorifics in subs, since that's an important part of Japanese culture that doesn't translate well. But if they're saying something in Japanese that has a reasonably direct translation, then it should be translated. Otherwise Japanese viewers will know exactly what that word means, but English speakers won't. And that's the whole point of subtitles. (Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding the debate.)
@Setsugen, "horrible English translations" was referring to translations that even localize character names, not your TL (I haven't seen your localized track). In the Tokyo Pop Initial D manga translation, for example, Takumi is Tak, Natsuki is Natalie etc.
