Just out of curiosity, I tried reencoding this episode with CRF instead of CBR, still using basic H264, traditional 8-bit, no frills or anything, with a rate factor pushed into placebo range so there's absolutely no way to claim bit-starving. I barely tuned the encoder settings at all (I wasn't about to put actual effort into this little experiment). 48 MB. I mean, it's a 3-minute anime. It turns out a constant bit rate of 5500 *might* be a little overkill for a low-budget anime with very little motion or detail. Heck, that's a bit overkill for the majority of high-budget anime with lots of motion. The only reason sites like Crunchyroll consistently push beyond that is so people won't complain about them being stingy with the stuff and pull their subscriptions. P.S. It hit 9.6 MB with 10-bit HEVC with Opus audio brought right up to the edge of transparency. Fun stuff.
