Synopsis
As another year begins at Yuigaoka Girls’ High School, ushering in a fresh batch of students, the school idol club Liella! is excited to expand their membership. However, Liella! is extremely popular due to the astounding talent they have continuously displayed; thus, new students lack the courage to even consider approaching the club, fearing the rigorous training that might lie ahead.
Amid her worries, club leader and co-founder Kanon Shibuya meets first-year student Kinako Sakurakouji and tells her about the world of school idols. This leaves Kinako in awe, but being fairly average herself, she feels she would not be capable of matching the spirited performances of the brilliant Liella! members. Nonetheless, Kinako receives encouragement to join the group and comes to share their dream of reaching for the stars once again in the grand Love Live! Competition.

I’m still wondering why no one’s uploaded a BD DUAL AUDIO for S1&2 OF Nijigasaki
neoborn (uploader)
@JollyProductions
I for one was disappointed from nijigasaki season 1 and have tried to delete it’s existence from memory. The whole solo idol thing wasn’t really my thing :S

Sadly, CookieSubs’ edit has something broken with the sub files and doesn’t display fonts properly when using MPC-HC (verified with OG Team ONIBE release, CookieSubs release, and this release, as well as with subs extracted from all three of them to see how they would behave). Unfortunately, using MPV is kind of forced to watch this properly.
Edit: Dug more into it; subs don’t work properly in VLC as well. However, I also found the culprit - for some reason, CookieSubs’ subs use Gandhi Sans in the “Default” style, while the font (that looks proper and is also used in Team ONIBE’s release) should be Lato ExtraBold. Don’t know what happened that it was changed, but fortunately, it’s nothing that a quick extract and changing one thing in Aegisub cannot fix. Please consider modifying that in future updated release! Also karaoke colors don’t display properly, but it looks okay-ish so I didn’t dig into that

@Pitgram:
Got any screenshots? The subtitles look perfectly fine in vlc and mpv, both Default and karaoke.

@ThatWaxEllo
Here, the first one is this release/CookieSubs, the 2nd is the same file but on MPV, and the 3rd is the original Team ONIBE (different file). The mistake regarding the karaoke part being wrong was on my part; this release changed it from being all rainbow to pink and white. Also, from more testing, I discovered that this default font issue is present only in episodes 1-7; episode 8 and onward seem to have a proper font in the default dialogue style. I tested this on two different machines (one running Windows 10, the other Windows 11) to confirm that the results are software-based and not machine-based

@Pitgram
The Default style has the
bold
option deactivated in 1-7 and activated in 8-12.I don’t know why your mpv shows it as being bold anyway.
If you want to have it look like it’s in mpv, then open the subtitle file in aegi, go
Subtitle
-Styles Manager
- select “Default” -Edit
- activate Bold. saveRiko-Riko-Rii
Gonna leave my two cents here since I’ve just seen these comments:
Yes this is a known issue, the specific version of Gandhi Sans I was using at the time didn’t include the regular style, causing aegisub to always display the font in bold and me not realizing I forgot to set the style correctly in the first 7 episodes. If you test on a clean install, you should get the bold version of the font since the only source it has is the embedded one, while if you already have a version of the font installed some players will prioritize that one. I’d been made aware of this issue shortly after releasing superstar, and it was fixed in the releases after it (aka bandori).
I’ve always said that my releases are tested for mpv and mpv only. If you want to use other players, be aware that things are untested and stuff will inevitably end up breaking.
