Okay…so what is this exactly?
Super Warriors is a 2011 Chinese animated series from a joint collaboration by T.C. Ruishi & Xing Yang Animation, with collaborative efforts by Wuxi Digital Animation Co.
So, who’s who? From what I can find, Xing Yang Animation (广州市星原动偶文化活动策划有限公司) only did one previous series before this, 2010’s 太空历险记/Astro Plan/Space Adventures which seems very Macross-inspired. They would disappear after this but any new information/corrections is always appreciated.
Wuxi Digital Animation Co. (无锡世纪宏柏数码动画有限公司) produced a few cartoons before this 福五鼠/Five Lucky Rats, and 大嘴巴嘟嘟/Big Mouth Toot but this too seems to be their last one.
Now…the last one. Who is T.C. Ruishi? I haven’t been able to find the hanzi for their name, so this information is rough, but from what does exist online, T.C. Ruishi stands for Tsuburaya-Chaiyo Ruishi. They were a company that Chaiyo created with a Chinese company, joint-partnership within Mainland China to sell and produce Ultraman content with. Think of them as the Chinese branch of Chaiyo, even though they technically were a new company. One of their home-grown titles is this fascinating educational show called Ultraman Big Transformation that has a few episodes on youtube, fun little show with an Ultra talking about nature and animals. Knowledgeable readers may recognize the name as one of the companies involved in Chaiyo’s failed Project Ultraman media extravaganza.
But that’s not important, to answer what this is:
Super Warriors/超能勇士 is a 2011 2d/3d hybrid animation that was birthed from a project called Sinic Giants/中华超人 aka Chinese Ultramen. It was a massive planned media enterprise comprising of live-action, animated TV shows and movies, games, merchandising, etc. With the sole focus on making original Ultramen specifically for the Chinese market. While a lot of shows were trade-marked and planned, only this one cartoon made it to air. It follows 3 kids who transform into Ultramen, and they fight a comedic bad guy and his monster army. This show also goes under the title of Sinic Q/中华超人Q版 aka Little Chinese Ultraman.
The Ultraman wikia claims that 2 seasons exist, however I can not find any mention of seasons outside of these 52 episodes on Baidu/Baike etc. If anybody knows and has links, please post them.
The quality for this isn’t great, it’s capped to 360p (Sourced from BilliBilli, uploaded there as a personal favor for yours truly) and given Tsuburaya’s recent legal winnings within Mainland China, it is unlikely this show will ever be re-broadcast. This is a great piece of documentation of the face of Ultraman within the Mainland prior to the legal rulings. If America can have Powered, Chuck, Scott, and Beth. If Australia can have Great, and if Malaysia can have Ribut, then China can have the Super Warriors. Please enjoy this rare piece of Ultraman media, and seed!
