Don’t know for sure. A bit of mystery here :) According to comparison, the original source should have aspect ratio between 16:9 and 4:3.

It’s zoomed. But have more coverage in width, compared to TV/R1 version.

@mottoj - Well, from what I gathered only the first season of Corrector Yui was broadcasted in high-definition. Three times.
The first time that one was even broadcasted at this format was through some high-definition test channel that was around from 1991-11-25 to 2000-11-30. The show ended broadcasting there around 2000-11-10.
The second time was through BS-hi(one of those broadcast-satellite channels, and also one of the only analogue high-definition channels out there until 2007-09-30) around the latter half of 2005.
The third time was through Channel NECO from 2012-12-03 to 2013-06-03(see http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/657/time).

Apart from that the entire series was broadcasted in its full 4:3 format on NHK-E.

BS-hi raw ep01 from https://nyaa.iss.one/view/876027 have the same picture AR and coverage, also suffer form interlacing but less visible. As for ep27 here the comparison. This episode on DVD is even more cropped(692x480), than first episode (712x480).

@mottoj - That’s strange. Now I can see why the second season was never broadcast at high definition.
Foreign dubs of this show were presented at its fullscreen format(which is how Corrector Yui was originally broadcast on NHK-E and then released as VHS volumes), especially the Chinese dub which caught my attention simply because all of its episodes had been dubbed.

It would be great if someone uploads the DVDISOS that are already up on ADC.
