Track Description Source
Video 30th Anniversary Dynit ITBD D-Z0N3 v2
Audio Track 1 (default) 2001 5.1 DVD Remix Scoped
Audio Track 2 Original 2.0 Mix Scoped
Audio Track 3 2009 5.1 Hypersonic Remix Scoped
Subtitle Track 1 ASS Afro with styling from Kaleido
Subtitle Track 2 VobSub Afro

ASS track is shifted backwards 24 frames and the audio and VobSub tracks are shifted backwards 1001ms since D-Z0N3 cut about a second of black frames at the beginning.
Only other modification is the styling on Afro’s subtitles. Really didn’t like font so I changed it to Gandhi Sans and just yoinked the styling from Kaleido’s release for convenience.

Which audio track is the best?

I’d say the 2001 mix, but it’s definitely personal preference. There isn’t really one that’s clearly superior.
The original 2.0 mix makes me kinda uncomfortable listening to it and the Hypersonic mix is definitely a lot more modern and “louder” than the 2001 mix. It’s got louder SFX and all that jazz while the 2001 mix is a bit more understated.
It’s still a toss-up between 2001 and 2009 for me tho.

Also I’ll never understand why on earth this won’t seed even after connecting to peers. I’m never gonna figure this shit out.

@non_aggressive1 I think it all boils down to your sound settings (stereo VS virtual surround VS real surround).

allegedly cursed release

Is there a good Akira 30th Anniversary release without denoising. D-Z0N3, Scoped, Rady… they’re all either
denoised or cropped or rescaled… We need a raw Dynit encode with decent size.
I don’t know why people hate grain so much?
By the way thank you Kuro for this!!!

I haven’t compared it with the original Dynit Blu-ray, but honestly I don’t see much DNR in D-Z0N3’s video.
There’s still plenty of grain everywhere.

@aerdemd Grabs アキラ / Akira VHS tape

There’s no denoising or rescaling applied here. It only has dirty line fixes, debanding, and dehaloing.

Thanks for the info, @Aicha
